Necessity may be the mother of invention and the climate is the most important factor which determines the necessities. Thus the ski was invented because of the movement and transportation needs over the snowy grounds. As we mentioned in previous chapters the first skies started to use in scandinavian and asian steppes also in alpine hills.
People used different types of skies according to landforms. Basically we can categorize skiing into two groups which are called as Nordic Skiing and Alpine skiing. Each groups has its own techniques.
